Ballads of Displacement
October 2024
VAV Gallery, Montreal, Qc
A group exhibition exploring themes of dislocation, identity, and memory. Featuring works by seven artists, including three pieces by Marie Khediguian (Anchored in Time, Alexandria, Egypt, 1950s, and Bearing Witness), the show examined displacement as both isolating and transformative. Curated by Emitees Tajdari, the exhibition invited reflections on survival, heritage, and belonging. An artist talk led by India-Lynn, as part of the IUNGO Talks program, deepened the dialogue on personal and collective narratives.

The show brought together diverse artistic voices in an exploration of connection and materiality. Held at Ada X, the exhibition highlighted emerging talent in a dynamic and engaging space.
Wood Block Print (Reduction Print)
This hand-pulled wood block print draws from traditional Artsakh carpet motifs, reinterpreted through a reduction printing process. The starburst pattern carries both ornamental beauty and cultural memory, echoing forms that have been passed down through generations.
Each layer of colour is carved and printed from the same block, meaning the image cannot be reproduced again in this exact state. This makes every print in the edition unique and unrepeatable.
Printed on archival Japanese printmaking paper, the surface has a soft texture that holds the ink beautifully while preserving fine details.

This piece is part of an ongoing exploration of Armenian visual language, material memory, and the ways patterns carry stories across time and displacement.
You can add an optional donation to support my upcoming artist residency in Armenia.
This project is part of my ongoing work around memory, family, and image-making. During the residency, I’ll be gathering material through painting, photography, and everyday encounters, with a focus on noticing and honoring women’s often invisible labor — the quiet work that sustains families and communities.
Contributions help support materials, local travel, and the time needed to carry this work forward.
This is completely optional, and simply here for those who feel moved to support.
Thank you for being part of this next stage of the work.
Original Watercolour and Acrylic Painting
This 2020 contemporary portrait explores the structural interplay between light, form, and texture. The composition features a central figure looking upward, anchored against a segmented, radial background. By combining the fluid transparency of watercolour with the structural weight of opaque acrylic, the piece maps out a geometric study of light rays.
Created on premium, 100% cotton Arches cold press paper, the distinct tooth of the substrate emphasizes the grounded, tactile quality of the mixed media application. This original artwork is an excellent addition for collectors of contemporary Canadian art focused on structural composition and archival materials.
